Frequently Asked Questions
One of our great pleasures here at Compugen is answering our clients’ questions about the benefits of refurbished computers and the specifics of our offerings. If you don’t see your question below, please contact us and we will be happy to answer it for you.
What’s the difference between used, refurbished, and Honor Roll Certified?
Used computers are generally sold as-is, with no value-added measures taken. Refurbished can mean vastly different things depending on the supplier – from very little done, to a complete overhaul of the machine. Honor Roll Certification is Compugen’s own quality proof of performance. It includes a serious 16-point checklist that is then double-checked by two master technicians, and a rigorous diagnostics protocol for rooting out problem machines. It’s really the industry standard for refurbished technology.
What is Compugen’s certification process?
In order for our computers to become Honor Roll Certified ™, they must pass through a 16-point checklist. In addition to cleaning the machine, triple wiping the hard drive, and diagnosing and fixing all hardware problems, our machines are also loaded with authorized Microsoft software. Learn more about our process here.
Where do your computers come from?
Our computers are sourced from our enterprise-leasing portfolio. This means that they were used in clean, corporate environments and for their short stints at a company were maintained entirely by us. We know what’s happened with every machine. More about sourcing.
In a given order, are all the computers identical?
Yes, we are able to ship orders of identical machines that are loaded with identical software images. We can also customize a shipment exactly to your needs.
Do the computers have cosmetic problems?
Some computers have very minor cosmetic issues. These issues are largely not noticeable and do not affect the functioning of the computer in any way.
What’s the largest order size possible?
Because of our large enterprise-leasing portfolio, we’re able to ship very large orders. In fact, we’ve never had an order that was too big for us to fulfill.
What happens if a computer fails?
On the rare occasion that a computer fails, the process is remarkably simple. Give us a call and we’ll expedite delivery of a new machine to you. When you receive it, send the one you had back to us so we can see what went wrong. We call this Insta-Returns, because it’s remarkable how fast we can get you a new machine. Our main priority is getting the replacement machine to you quickly and conveniently.
Are the computers legally authorized?
Yes. We are a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher, so we are able to load legally licensed software on all our refurbished computers.
Can I customize or upgrade the computers you offer?
Of course. When you order our refurbished computers, we’ll ask a series of questions so that you get exactly what you’re looking for. We are happy to accommodate any type of customized order.
Do the computers come with software already installed?
As a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher, we can install authorized Microsoft software on all the machines. This is optional according to your needs. This software can also be image-configured across all the machines, if needed.
How do I order?
