REFURBISHING PROCESS

The Highest Standards For The Best Refurbished Computers

Expert refurbishing

At Compugen Education, we have the capacity to refurbish hundreds of computers each day. In order to ensure that each refurbished computer operates at 100%, we use a combination of innovative training, counter-testing, high-level software and regular audits on our entire process. Our exacting standards have earned us ISO 9008:2008 certifications for our vendor to customer supply line. After all computers have been through our refurbishing process, they become Honor Roll Certified. That’s our own seal of utter confidence that these PCs will stand up to the treatment they’ll get at school!

Our Facilities & Technicians

Long lasting refurbished computers

Compugen Education operates a 125,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art refurbishing facility. It was built in _(year)_ and has the capacity to refurbish nearly 1000 computers each day. One step into this building and you can clearly see that we’re serious about our exacting standards. This immaculate facility is where our technicians work their magic.

Our technicians are all certified Microsoft experts, and have undergone hundreds of hours of training, along with regular skills updates. We have high retention rates to ensure that the most experienced technicians remain on the front lines, cleaning, repairing and testing the fine computers we send to schools.

Refurbishing

honor-rollOur refurbishing process results in ‘like-new’ computers that are Honor Roll Certified. A proprietary certification, Honor Roll Certified means that your computer is 100% lifetime guaranteed, or it will be replaced at no charge to you. Here’s how we do it:

Wiping, Wiping, Wiping:
First things first: in compliance with industry standards set by the Department of Defense, every computer we receive has its hard drive wiped three times using high-level security software.

Cleaning:
We are into every nook and cranny in the computers, air gun in hand. Solvents are used to remove marks, stickers and other blemishes. We won’t release them from the clean room until they’ve gotten a good grooming.

Auditing:
Each machine is carefully checked out. One inspection is a manual audit, in which a technician manually handles and appraises the computer: examining for cosmetic damage, seeing if there are any loose parts, making sure that every moving part functions as it should, that the battery life is sufficient, that there is no fan noise, etc. Then we use an auditing software to test the processor, the hard drive, the RAM, the monitor, the keyboard and mouse or trackpad. Any issues result in red flags that must be addressed in the next step.

Replacing & Repairing:
We repair what is repairable, or we simply replace the entire part. The most commonly replaced parts are the keyboard, the hard drive and the front case.

Our exacting standards mean that only 75% of the computers that come in get released to schools. 25% percent are deemed inappropriate for student use and are recycled using our Green4Good program. Remember: we are the TOUGH GRADERS!

Testing, Testing:
As we all learned in school – one test just isn’t enough. That’s why we do two complete tests on our computers before we can be confident that they are ready to be sent out. Find out more about our double inspection policy.

Ordering:
Our computers are housed in a large, climate controlled warehouse. When you place an order, we locate the desired computers and install software. Our technicians install, legally authorize, and then test the software. Each unit comes with a license number from Microsoft.

Shipping:
When the computers have been thoroughly refurbished and tested, each one is individually packaged and then the entire shipment is packaged on a pallet. We expedite it to school destinations around the United States.

Once the computers get to students, they have a remarkably low failure rate of 2 to 3%.
That is impressive! Ask our competitors what their failure rates are. Why, ours are even lower than new.And each Compugen Education computer is backed up by our lifetime warranty. If anything happens, we will ship the computer back to our facilities at no charge to you.
