SHAPE THE FUTURE

Let’s Tear Down This Digital Wall!

Computers with lifetime warranties

Shape The Future ™ insists that every home that needs a computer should have one. Not on loan. Not checked out, like a library book. Instead, the student gets his/her own, to keep.

As technology becomes more integrated into our everyday lives, it is vital to bridge the digital divide and provide information access to all, regardless of means. Our very society depends upon it. Full participation in work, school, home and community requires access to technology today. Especially for students, access to a computer is now essential to their social and educational development.

Shape the Future works to bridge the digital divide and provide computers to those who need them most. By providing computers to promising students free of charge, we can boost the chances of their success in life. We can shape the future.

Shape the Future is a partnership between Compugen Education and Microsoft.

What is the digital divide?
The digital divide refers to the differences in access to information and communication technology (ICT) around the world. This includes telephones, televisions, personal computers and the Internet. Within the U.S., research has shown that the divide persists, with many minority populations and low-income families still not being served.

A Digital Economy Requires Digital Tools

The American economy has gone completely digital. Daily life is essentially dependent upon a high-speed Internet connection. From banking to social networking, from apartment-hunting to job-hunting, from clothes shopping for interviews to fact-checking on school reports . . .. our most basic tasks rely on connectivity.

This situation is exacerbated for students. If students are unable to become technology literate, they will be at a huge disadvantage and will struggle to make their way as they mature. They may be left out in the computer cold. And our very society will suffer for it. The people who need computers and access to the Internet most, are our students.

Shape the Future is a charitable program that identifies needy students and provides them with up to date computers and software.

How It Works

green4goodThrough Compugen Education’s Green4Good program, we receive the technology assets of companies in our vast installed base and then refurbish them to be like-new machines, ready to serve students. We then collaborate with partnered school districts to identify families in need and earmark these units for distribution to them free of charge.

We load the computers with Microsoft’s LearningSuite – a powerful software suite that offers programs for everything from photo editing to coding, to spreadsheets, documents and Internet applications. We also identify partners who may be able to provide other services, like reduced-rate broadband access or mobile technologies.

No more divide. All the loaded technology is provided without cost to ensure that deserving students can grow with the times and master their future.

With Shape the Future, we can team up to provide the technological tools that give all students, regardless of income, a real chance to succeed.
