Top 5 Reasons To Embrace Your Inner Windows 10!
Windows 7 or Windows 10?
If you’ve been living on the moon, busy with work or you’ve been binge-watching Netflix (aren’t we all) you might have missed the news about Windows 10. Earlier this year Microsoft announced that it will only provide its partners Windows 10 licenses. This means that Compugen Education will no longer be able to purchase Windows 7 and 8.1 licenses to sell to our clients.
Now before you panic and do something irrational, this could be both bad and good news for you, depending of course on how you feel about upgrading all of your school’s computers to Windows 10. Below, you’ll see an outline of some excellent reasons of why you should be excited. And if by chance you’re still not convinced we can tell you what to do if you’d like to delay upgrading. Although we think you may have figured that one out by now.
Boot Up Time
The boot up time you’ll experience with Windows 10 is markedly faster than it’s predecessors, and general navigation is noticeably quicker too. All allowing for an easy and smooth start up time in the morning, when you yourself might not quite be moving as fast.
Power Management
We all know how much fun unexpectedly losing power can be. Whether it’s in the middle of a budget presentation, or showing a new movie trailer to your coworkers while your boss isn’t in the room, losing power is no fun. With Windows 10, the power management is greatly improved, meaning that laptop and mobile batteries last longer.
Cortana
Windows 10 includes Cortana, your digital personal assistant. This is Windows’ answer to Google Now and Apple’s Siri. Using voice commands, Cortana can search your computer, play music, take dictated notes, add tasks and reminders, and of course search the web. Just like your own personal assistant without the salary
Virtual Desktop
The Virtual Desktops feature is built right into the operating system. This makes it easier to move between applications and keep desktops free of clutter.
It cannot, however, organize and keep your actual messy desk free of clutter.
Edge
Windows’ new browser application, Edge, is an improvement over Internet Explorer – it’s fast, elegant, and includes many new features. It also has a way cooler name than Internet Explorer.
All of these new features make Windows 10 a significant improvement over Windows 7. Even those who were skeptical to begin with, have ended up being pleased with the new OS. But upgrading to a new OS is a big step to take for an institution, and needs to be taken at the right moment.
